In 2006, I was thinking about going to China to teach English, but I had never taught international students before. Then I got my first taste of teaching ESL at Agape, and I discovered that yes, it was great! The students at Agape were self-motivated and excited about learning English.
I left for China in 2007 and spent three wonderful years teaching speaking and writing courses at Jilin Financial University, in the very cold city of Changchun. In my spare time, I had meals and parties with students, led English discussion groups, traveled to other fascinating parts of the country, and studied the Chinese language.
My college degrees are in print journalism (B.A.) and English literature (M.A.), but teaching ESL is the occupation that I've found most rewarding. I love learning about my students' home cultures and discussing meaningful topics with them.

I began working at Agape in August of 2007. In 1983, I graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Economics, after which I completed a Masters degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from Georgia State University. I taught English in Japan for three years, before graduating from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS with a Masters degree in Biblical Studies. While in Mississippi, I taught English at Mississippi College in Clinton. In 1991, I married Curtis DuBose, and after graduation we moved to Africa. I taught English in Malawi and Uganda while my husband taught in seminaries there. In 2006, we returned to the USA, where Curtis is a pastor and I am a teacher of English. We have two sons and two daughters.

I began teaching at Agape in the fall of 2008. I work as a teacher and recruiter of international students. I was born in Barcelona, Spain and moved to the U.S. to enroll in university. I completed my B.A. in 2006 and M.A. in 2008. I started tutoring students in ESL when I was in Spain. While earning my M.A., I taught at the university for two years, when I realized how much I enjoy teaching. Being from another country and having experienced what it is like to learn a new language really helps me understand what students go through when they come here.
My husband, Paul, and I have been married since 2008. My interests are traveling, visiting new places, and learning about other countries.

I’m originally from Atlanta, Georgia, but I now live in Greenville with my husband and two children. I love to teach internationals and look forward to meeting and working with new students from all over the globe.
