FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Agape Hires New Greenville Director, New Program Director

GREENVILLE, S.C. – May 30, 2011 – On August 1, 2011, Mrs. Brooke Pizzati will replace John Lawrence as the director of Agape English Language Institute in Greenville, S.C.  Lawrence, the current Program Director, oversees Agape’s schools in Greenville and Columbia, S.C.  Mr. Brett Varner, the current director of the Columbia school, will continue to manage the Columbia school and will assume the role of Program Director over both schools.

Lawrence taught one class at Agape during the summer of 2006, before moving to Europe with his wife in early 2007.  In June 2008, he came back as the director of Agape in Greenville.  “I’ve seen a lot of positive changes since I first came to Agape five years ago,” Lawrence said.  “The quality of the program has really improved.  But some things haven’t changed, like the care and concern our teachers show to the students.  I hope that never changes.”  Lawrence, who has a B.A. in Humanities, is pursuing a nursing degree from USC Upstate and will begin classes full-time in August.  “I’m sad to go,” he said.  “Agape will always be on my mind.  But I’m so glad that Brooke is taking my position.”

Brooke Pizzati recently moved back to the Greenville area after living with her family in Honduras for nearly 6 years, where she was an English teacher and missionary.  “It was Brooke’s experience in Honduras that convinced me she was the right person for the job,” Lawrence explained.  “Brooke brings a lot of skills and experience into her new role, and I am confident she will continue to take our school in the right direction.”  Pizzati, a graduate of North Greenville University, has a solid background as an educator in South Carolina.

Pizzati started teaching at Agape in January 2011.  “I am so excited about continuing on at Agape,” shared Pizzati.  “It is my hope that we can maintain our status as one of the best centers for learning English in the Upstate.”

Brett Varner has been working at Agape in Columbia since 2008.  He will be installed as the new Program Director, a position that oversees the operations of both Agape schools in South Carolina.  Varner lives and works in Columbia, S.C.  “I hope Agape will continue to be a school with a reputation of teaching excellence and strong attentiveness to the individual student,” Varner said.
